This year in 2023, Shoot Spaces has begun to feature one rental space each month as a way to get out and explore some of the amazing rental spaces in and around our community. The featured space could be a venue, a studio, a short-term rental, a co-working, or a creative space. Finding and exploring rentals is what I do!

The Shoot Spaces Featured Venue for March is Cookspring Shared Kitchen, just off Rudisill in southeast Fort Wayne. Located in The Summit, Cookspring Shared Kitchen is a 4800-square-foot commercial kitchen for rent to culinary entrepreneurs. Because Indiana’s Department of Health requires that food for resale be made in an approved facility, Cookspring has made it its mission to operate its health department-approved, shared kitchen as a space for culinary entrepreneurs to launch their businesses.

I had the opportunity to tour Cookspring’s Shared Kitchen spaces last week with the new manager, Jerad Lambert. I was impressed with the amount of space and the large variety of kitchen equipment available to Cookspring members.

Cookspring Shared Kitchen

Cookspring‘s top-notch facility has several fully-equipped kitchen spaces, each with a variety of different equipment to suit their members’ specific needs. Shared kitchen members also have access to dry storage, bakeware and other culinary accessories, dishwashing, and prep areas, and multiple walk-in freezer spaces. And Cookspring’s kitchen facilities are open to members 24 hours a day and 7 days a week!

Renting Space at Cookspring

Cookspring Shared Kitchen is available by membership only. Affordable hourly and monthly memberships allow beginning culinary entrepreneurs to have access to the equipment they need starting out without the huge cost of purchasing and maintaining major kitchen appliances or a brick-and-mortar location.

You can apply for a Cookspring membership through their website. You will then need to get the required food permits from the department of health, as well as liability insurance. Cookspring’s staff is very familiar with this process and can help if you have any questions along the way. Your Cookspring Membership can be approved in as little as 7 to 10 business days if you are proactive in obtaining the required documents. Once your membership has been approved, you will begin the onboarding process with a tour and basic kitchen safety course.

Convenient, Online Booking

After you complete the onboarding process, you are ready to schedule your shared kitchen time.

Reservations and cancellations for your shared kitchen time at Cookspring are managed with an online booking system to help keep things organized. Members can schedule their desired kitchen times 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. The kitchen spaces are available to members on a first-come first-serve basis.

The Cookspring Community

Cookspring Shared Kitchen has been serving our community’s culinary entrepreneurs for more than five years in association with their parent company, Ambassador Enterprises, a community-focused investment firm, serving profit and nonprofit organizations.
